Pacifica dance card full?

And here is a downloadable PDF file of the Null summary. I have often been critical of Gary Null and I still think he has been a part of the WBAI problem, but there is an interesting dichotomy between that and his also being a fundraising asset.

That said, I think Gary Null's letter should be read by all who have true concern for the station's future—I only wish he hadn't waited so long to speak up in such detail.

Gary Null's excellent summary.

  1. Well now, let's see... a few quick thoughts to close out the old year and to move on...

Null is simply revisiting criticisms which have stood, valid, for about four decades.

His particulars simply reflect what serves his best interests as a scam-artist-hustler and ought not be seriously considered.

    A penultimate thought...

    Simple enough...

Maxie Maxie Maxie ought to have fired the lot of them, instantly, to their faces, on the spot.

    Final thought...

There are innumerable possible loci of support for WBAI/Pacifica. None of them have ever nor will ever prove willing to work with a petty shitstorm of lost souls who imagine they ought run the world.

    As no one listens.

    2. Thanks, Chris, I fear you're entirely too kind :)

A very Happy, very Healthy, very Fortunate next spin-turn around the Sun to you, as well :)

  2. Indigo Pirate as usual is wrong - Gary Null is on point with his observations, particularly about Democracy Now. That program was stolen from Samori Marksman - indeed, Samori and his brother were going to sue Amy for fraud before they died. Amy is a fraud and a crook who has helped destroy the station for her own benefit - she is smart and clever, but a fraud - Happy New Year!!

    1. Goodman looked out for her own interests, as the creator of Democracy Now rather than consider it part of Pacifica's collective madness.

      How very Unrevolutionary of her!

      The nerve of that woman!

    2. She dared to do a good show that was in keeping with Pacifica’s mission. Quality radio is often unacceptable to those whose highest level is substandard.

    3. Stone the Witch!

This has long been a singularly conformist, cowardly little lot, far removed from your time, Ed Goodman, or even [Try not to hate me, we simply disagree, and he acknowledged he was an absolutely terribly station manager] Larry J.

They are, so to speak, their own reward.

    4. One of the Great Courageous Revolutionary Hero Samori Marksman's quotes from the early 1980s, when the station hadn't yet completed the task of driving away very nearly all of their listeners was...

'I don't understand. People are actually calling to defend Reagan... and Stockman! What's heppening out there?!'

Yes, out of touch with reality, as always, and unable to address it other than to wish it to just all go away.

  3. Now here's a thing. Ever notice that Marxist Saint & Stalin-Wannabe Samori Marksman seems to be referred to as the sainted, invaluable Program Director of the 1990s, who strongly supported Gary Null as a source of income, and who pushed even harder for Pacifica being in the authoritarian racist hands of Mary Frances Berry?

That was his second stint as pd – the first was in the early 1980s.

That's very rarely if ever referred to. Notice that?

    Why is that?

    Huh.

Even back then, WBAI was SaMORIBUND, as it were.

    2. Long been blind on many topics, sad to say. One of my favorites, so to speak, was the universal on-air condemnation of Joan Baez for consistently criticizing abuses in both right-wing and left-wing countries. Saint Bill Kunstler leading the way, helpfully pointing out that it was absolutely forbidden, ever, under any circumstances, to criticize a Marxist Government.

What the hell, what does another million or so in the Killing Fields matter to a good follower of The Cause, right?

Simply a bit of collateral damage in the Noble Cause.

      Can't be helped.

No need to call attention to such things.

      Look away. Move on.

    4. Pacifica is very definitely Free Speech Radio.

      In the Orwellian sense, granted...

  4. As the PNB Turns...In this episode, the PNB decided to extend the terms of the directors until the delayed election is completed. Did I mention the election was delayed twice? Did I mention the guy they paid to run the election couldnt do it because the lists are useless? Even though everyone could see this coming, the PNB folks just don't care. They're going to have an election damn it and they're going to win big. They're already planning their victory parade. Meanwhile Adriana the Screamer and Benito..Shatner..Diaz are insisting on picking directors now. Right Now. Will this election happen?
Will Maxie still be around six months from now? Will Chris finally get over his Anti-Danish prejudice?
Find out in the next episode of As the PNB Turns.

  5. Pacifica got the new year off to a great start: the PNB adjourned at 1.40am ET. They had gathered the day before, Th3Jan, nominally at 8pm, but combat didn't commence until 8.26 because the axe-grinder had run out of wheels. (That's grinder, not grindr.) But don't despair, they all meet up again this Thursday.

The question captivating everyone is, for how long will Mrs Maxie let Mr Maxie stay up well past his bedtime? Forget about the $3.265m loan from the Foundation for the Jewish Community (FJC), this is what the people deserve to know.

  6. The ED talked about Pacifica joining a group called Greater Public which helps public media organizations. Do you know anything about them Chris?

  7. I tried to listen to the PNB meeting Chris but I just couldn't. I kept skipping ahead. I did get to hear Maxie take a veiled shot over the board spending so much time on things that matter little to listeners. They call an emergency meeting to deal with one thing and then declare it a regular meeting and load up the plate with other stuff. You know things are bad when you realize that maybe Adriana has a point after all. What a cast of characters, "Grace for the stack", Bankruptcy Bill, Benito..Shatner..Diaz, termed out WBAI Director 1, termed out WBAI Director 2, Kathy the spiritual guru, bogus affiliate director, unknown affiliate director, Adriana the Screamer, Angry DeWayne Lark and the Parliamentarian who talks way too much for a non-member.

    1. I know what you mean. Within the hour, you will see Indigopirate's pixels neatly arranged to form a more concise, equally puzzling picture of the very meeting you speak of.

      It's not a pretty picture.
