What's happenin'

Word has it that the Pacifica National Board last night came up with that elusive solution. So far, it's but a small indistinct leak from under that infamous secret chamber door.

Our eyes are on the crystal ball. Stay tuned,

  2. Cerene's daily cackle does not mention a reached agreement specifically, but it seems clear to me that she's in a defensive mode.

  3. A caller to the "Jordan Journal" today made reference to how small WBAI's audience is today, and how little impact WBAI has in the real world. Unsurprisingly, both Howard Jordan and Reggie Johnson responded with total denial. "There are none so blind as those who will not see."

    1. If Jordan and Reggie actually believe they have more than a busload of listeners, they are more out of touch with reality than I thought.

Jordan is too bigoted to be taken seriously; Reggie is the eternal amateur who meant well but drifted off the trail—not as badly as Haskins, whose main meal is the propaganda-sprinkled Black Agenda Report.

I'll also be fair and admit that there is still a residue of untapped talent at the station, but—other than such obvious pros as Michio Itami and Chris When—the servings could have been scooped up from an abandoned dumpster.

  4. Without meaningful information it may be anything of course, from a comprehensive solution involving signal swaps with accompanying monetization of part of the value of WBAI’s frequency at one end of the range to the relatively trivial, some sort of agreement for payment structure and the loans we’ve heard spoken of and hoped for accompanied by ESRT possibly waiving some of the penalties provided for in the contracts.

Offhand, and this is insanely speculative, I’d guess that if they had reached some overarching transformative comprehensive structured solution the leaks would have been swift and comprehensive, so I’d guess (only a guess) it’s rather less than that.

My guess only a guess is that they’ve bought a bit more time, while they plan to make plans to change. That, after all, has been the pattern for quite a few decades now, as they’ve slipped quite a bit below effective invisibility.

    1. They have apparently bought some to as far as the audit deadline is concerned.

    2. Yes. I wonder of the CA AG's Office shows such leniency for everyone or if there's a warm spot for Progressive Pacifica.

    3. Perhaps the bureaucrats like the fact that todays' once progressive Pacifica has been regressive for a few years. The house do-dos call it something else, English being a second language to many of them.

    1. Don't you realize that one of WBAI's many slogans is that listeners only matter while in the act of donating or buying vapor merchandise?

    2. To be semi-fair, not that this scum deserves it, one couldn't possibly run a radio station or network on 'democratic' lines with everyone discussing and voting on this that and everything.

Management has to make its decisions, air what it airs, and then find out if the listeners support it or not.

In effect, that’s what happens despite the ‘openness’ and ‘democratization’ of WBAI/Pacifica. They hide everything in Executive Session! &c and spew their lies and nonsense about ‘openness’ &c.

In the end the listener support either is or isn’t there.

      Mostly, it ain’t.
