Did you know?

Geoff Brady's live "special" on the climate crisis, as he imagines it, made me think of the tons of lies WBAI not only heaps upon its dwindling listenership, but expects them to pay exorbitantly for. I'm sure most of you don't need to be told about WBAI's unconscionable lack of honesty, but just in case...

  1. Dr. Ben looks like one of those homeless people you find on the corner seat of a subway car, talking to himself.

As for Brady and his special, I hate to say it, but at least he pretty much kept quiet and let the guests argue it out. None the less, that crap shouldn't have wasted WBAI's airwaves. It belongs on George Noory.

    1. If only he had been talking to himself—we'd all have been better off.

  2. A trend from commercial radio, could Pacifica be far behind. From Radio Ink Magazine, with additional articles on the radio industry, worth the read. More stations bartering or selling air time. But then again Pacifica defies the known (and unknown universe).

  3. Chris,

iHeartMedia filed for bankruptcy. Too much debt in the buyout.

Debt is Pacifica's problem, also. But for a different reason.

    1. The link a love mentions the heart debt and restructuring. Insightful for what can be done the fiscal road for Pacifica, possible right or left turn into Chapter 7 liquidation.

  4. What is true and how much is aggrandizement, fantasy, wishful-thinking-claimed-as-'true'-hopefully is done by minorities everywhere, color, sex type, or any other than the 67% bell-curved 'normal' majority.

All media seems extremely eager to show so many black people on their screens and maybe in back rooms too,tho the 'public' can't know much of what happens 'in the back, darker spaces '.

Notice all TV or movies or award ceremonies and anyone who arrives innocently from any other place than the USA would assume the demographics here are now suddenly "78% black [darker skin color people, formerly known by Spanish word "negro" - a word still in existence and use in that language elsewhere, not in USA] vs the census stats that say 13-14% only.

Why - not because of merit, deserving more than others, or sudden talents emerging or "found". but probably because of where the next 'target consumer group' gets spotlighted. Or a way to say "see, how diverse, socially-politically-liberal & Correct-only" we Are ! [for a while ? until the next media-story shifts, again to prove the corporate goodness and altruism, image, again.]

The Tony Bates was for a long while at LA's KPFK as the volunteer coordinator, and then he behaved well and seemed to be doing his then job, from the KPFK public/ volunteer's view. Nothing else is ever said or let be known by any Pacifica station's non-transparency, as when a staff is sudden 'gone !" or 'resigns' or disappears.

And many KPFK people did not then know he transferred to NY instead, nor of his apparent changes in attitude, behaviors and self-image-assumptions too. People change due to many factors they don't reveal, it could be drugs, it could be partners, it could be bribes or New Opportunities to get more power, or trauma, or mental problems. Who is to know ?

  5. Actually, WBAI is "The Shadow" It "clouds men's mind" consistently.

    1. With respect, only to compare perceptions: It would very much *like* to cloud men's minds. The attempt, however, has led to very few who care to listen. Their minds, I suppose, may be said to be clouded – but I suspect they may have been clouded to begin with, hence there being so few of them?

WBAI/Pacifica, we may agree I suspect, are very much clouded themselves, however – and that's putting it kindly, though kindly is certainly something they don't deserve.

      That's my take, anyway...

    2. Fair point. WBAI clouds the minds of those who WANT their kids to be clouded.
