You reap what you sow...
If you needed proof of WBAI's management and promotion malfunctioning
"long-standing lawsuit" When was it filed? Let's see... During the time Reimers claims he was negotiating with the ESRT, I was saying they were probably being sued for eviction.
WBAI stopped paying rent in 2014? Interesting how on several occasions after 2014 I heard WBAI and Reimers say how they were paying rent.
Either this article is wrong or WBAI is. I wonder which.
They claimed to be paying partial rent, thus simultaneously growing a huge bill. I believe that is probably true, but Reimers—prone to lying as he is—obviously wasn't telling the truth when he cited an ongoing arrangement with the ESB.
He may have kept them at bay with his story of an anticipated major inheritance, but I guess the ESB people finally saw what a con artist he is. Remember, he has also been lying to Pacifica and the WBAI minions for a very long time.
Do you remember when Summer Reese came to town as the new iED? It was around that time that Reimers could no longer hide the enormous debt owed for ESB rent. It came as quite a shock, because he had been hiding just how dire the situation was. Now, of course, it is a lot worse and so—no longer able to pretend that all is well, he and his con-horts came up with the we=are-victims fantasy. That show how stupid these people are—you don't poke a hornet nest.
Pacifica is, as we have seen, corrupt as all hell, but the bad actors within are being allowed to get away with it, so there must be dark secrets that we are not privy to.
Remember, they have another live LSB meeting scheduled for broadcast tonight. This time, Cerene and some of the local crooks she is affiliated with will be present. I hope John Kane does not moderate.
Reimers was/is paying $12,000 which he said is market rate. ESB did accept the payments but that doesn't mean anything. Reimers insisted it did constitute an agreement. Meanwhile, he was telling Pacifica ever since 2014 he is 'negotiating' with ESB. Maybe if he had used the money to improve the station, he could have eventually caught up instead he's just trying to shame them into letting him walk away from them and towards Times Square folks. Of course in the real world, no one walks away from $5-6 million obligation.
Yeah, it's all a mess. There are several different stories, and none of them jive.
I read your line with "so there must be dark secrets that we are not privy to." and it hit me. Maybe we're looking at things the wrong way in regards to Pacifica and Reimers?
I present this hypothesis: Not only the JUC bunch but every side at Pacifica is planning to sell off WBAI or, at least, do a signal swap or lease time. If this is so, then Reimers is the untouchable tool who can be blamed by everyone for messing up. You might call him a useful idiot. Each side can use him to blame the other side for things, etc. Crosier's line about Reimers made me very suspicious, which is where I started wondering "why" keep him if you know he's inept?
My track record is pretty good so far on guessing their antics, so this may be close to the truth. think about it.
I thought about it, SDL, and you are certainly on the right track. As I understand it, there is also rent owed to the lady who owns 388 Atlantic Ave. and the previous location, uptown, was not vacated voluntarily.
Leasing time is an idea I haven't heard much about. Its not as controversial as a sale or signal swap and would raise some money. The interesting question would be when would the leased programs be broadcast.
SDL may be onto something but I just don't think they're that smart. There are folks that support Reimers and they don't have anyone else to step in at the moment. At least the JUC folks are upfront. They want that MNN deal.
The lease time thing was spoken of a little. The idea was leasing eight or so hours per day during the afternoon to evening to other entities who share WBAI's world outlook. I don't think this has picked up as much support as other ideas. I really wonder what they could charge for time these days. To have any sort of listenership, anyone who leases time would have to bring in their own listeners. WBAI would make some money by leasing time but also hope the leased time listeners would stick around for WBAI programming.
My hypothesis was very loose and just a general idea. I just think Reimers may not be the one with any sort of power but being used by all parties involved to facilitate their ultimate aims. I think all these parties see WBAI as a means for quick money if they can get the control their side needs to put some plan into real motion.
Of course, I could be wrong about everything. As I say about conspiracy theories (of which this falls into that category, I suppose), the first thing to realize is that people really can be that stupid and there is no actual conspiracy. That angle is always how I start looking at any conspiracy, then I go skeptic and try to take it apart with facts, or the theory's lack of facts.
Did you see the thing about dropping a beg-a-thon day for every $25,000 listeners pledge before the beg-a-thon starts? First, does that include the extra week that always gets tacked on? Second, WBAI can't make $25,000/day during a beg-a-thon to begin with, so this is funny in that respect.
Actually, they will cut a day for every $25,000 they raise but like SDL says they usually extend the fundraising anyway so its a wash. Seinfeld would ask What's the deal with that? I don't know what Black Seinfeld would say.

I saw that and, as you, wondered. They live in a world of pretense.

Black Seinfeld will read from the book, "Here I Lie", co-authored by Cerene Roberts.
