Coupsters strike out....

* Responding to Shawn Rhodes' Request to Investigate, the
National election supervisor has nixed the waivers at WBAI.

NATIONAL ELECTION SUPERVISOR RULING:

Upon reviewing the materials listed, the National Election Supervisor finds that station resources should not be used to promote the Hardship Waiver process, passed by less than a quorum on June 8, 2016 using Robert’s Rules of Order, as part of the current delegate election process.

The National Election Supervisor will let the General Manager of WBAI know the final determination.

  1. Well, that didn't pan out for the jackals. Maybe next time they can try offering lollipops in exchange for votes?

    1. It's just another ruling for them to ignore.

  2. The sudden concern a couple of months before an election which may not happen for hardship waivers is so blatantly disingenuous it defies belief. With all the serious issues facing the station, they choose to focus on making sure these imaginary crowds of people who haven't donated their time or money or expressed interest can vote.

They received no applications at their Gmail address. They could've contacted the station but its hard to tell with all the messages about undelivered premiums. I suggest that at the next non-quorum meeting, they consider an actual emergency like the lack of phone service.

    1. Lack of phone service, indeed, and how about lack of management? I keep seeing evaluation of the GM listed on various meeting agendas, but I am not aware of any such scrutiny having taken place. We're talking about an annual waste of 110,000.00.

After hearing Radio Unlistenable this morning (it sounded like Fass was watching porn with an open mic while playing his random fragments of music), I have to wonder how much it's costing the station to have this totally useless/mindless snorefest avec orgasm coming in from Staten Island.

    2. Considering Fass uses being on other stations as an excuse not to pitch, I would say, probably, $50 - $75 per year. I skipped Babbling Bob for Erotic Nights of the Living Dead. Is it worth downloading?

I think the powers at WBAI like not having on-air phones, as it prevents anyone from calling in to complain about not receiving premiums, as is rather common.

Will there ever be a united LSB again? Pacifica doesn't seem to want one.

    3. I am preparing a segment of the orgasm Fassisode for posting. I need a second opinion on this, but it sure sounds like porn in the BG.

    4. I spot checked but didn't hear anything like what you describe. Can you give me a time spot to listen to? To be honest, Bob just sounded way tired. Listen, if I were Bob, I'd be watching something, too, considering the burned out druggies who call him. Hell, half the time they just ramble over him and seemingly don't even listen to his show.

Anyway, watching porn is more informative than WBAI most of the time.

  3. Why isn't Fass pitching? Can't he just record something? If SDL is right, it is actually costing the station to broadcast Fass from SI. That makes no sense. They should all be pitching even if its just a PSA style clip. I don't know if the programmers actually get it. They get annoyed about the phones, start using Skype to get their calls and continue business as usual.

    1. If Fass could pitch, it wouldn't bring in much, if anything. Aside from that. he cannot pitch as long as he is being carried on that handful of small rural stations. WBAI would have to insert spots during which the other stations take over and d their thing. Amy does that on DN!, its common procedure.

Fass does not have to read that small list of stations either—it's up to the individual outlets to comply with Station ID rules—I suspect Bob does it to give the impression that he has listeners far and wide. You will hear him mention India, for example, but its all a part of his self-delusion.

The only thing that might justify pitching in that time slot would be if Bob was retired (as he should have done a few years back) and replaced by a real, show of some significance. That alone would no longer do it, since WBAI is barely known, much less listened to.

As I and others have said before, the damage is irreparable.
