Thought for the Day

  1. Indigopirate: Be specific. I know that Samori Marksman, Bernard White and Elombe Bad-Breath were dead broke, similarly, Feder, Samuels, Fass, Post and Josephson. Which leftist at WBAI were from the manot born, besides, of course, Chris Albertson?

    1. It appears you’re either being ironic or are incapable of parsing elementary English.

I can help with neither, sorry.

  3. The Senate debating gun control, a UK MP was stabbed a few days before the referendum, Warren being considered to run with Hilary and that is just the headlines. Have you heard any of this on WBAI at all? This is insane. Its not an alternative station if you're ignoring the rest of the news to talk about the same things over and over and over again. They don't even need to show up. They could take their old shows and just replay them. Meanwhile, the voice mails and the emails at the station keep piling up. Somewhere in that list of messages are calls and messages from that lady who won the contest for the Gary Null retreat. I can understand the humor in the posts here but having seen the lists of emails and messages that have been ignored, the joke gets pretty old pretty quickly. Change the damn programming!

    1. WBAI has become a propaganda machine for hateful, delusional opportunists. The programming will not be changed or in any way restored to an intelligent level until the morally bankrupt riffraff and amateurs are shown the door, and that will probably not happen until the station itself goes under. (i.e. soon).

  4. It's all very simple, really. Most of the people at WBAI are self-centered, self absorbed and totally inconsiderate towards anyone. They are truly spoiled, selfish children out for themselves. No amount of crocodile tears for the oppressed and downtrodden will change what they really are inside themselves. Most are just trash.

    1. And I bet most of them—the one's who get away with their scams—won't even go to see Reimers, Cohen, et al on visitors day.

  5. To change the programming , first they would have to get their heads out of their asses .
Or better yet , clean house of all these racists mono subject , mumia loving , reparation dreamers,
slavery story tellers , black lives matter whiners and than think about getting some people with more thoughts in their heads, other than race and skin color .

    1. And, for quixotic campaigns, you can't beat John Kane's constant ranting against 15th century papal bulls, and in support of restoring the Hawaiian monarchy.

    2. Kane has a devoted fan, the one who appears each time he looks in the mirror. I think it was a mistake to give him the two weekly hours—that mistake was compounded by putting it right behind that ghost horse.

I wonder how many American Indians listen to WBAI.

    3. I think WBAI is the kind of station that should have a Native American show, but a good, genuine one. Ghosty and Kane are just more self-serving WBAI trash. Why don't they get Leonard Peltier to do a weekly phone in, like Mumbles Jabu Jabal, or whatever his name is?

How many Native Americans listen to WBAI? Raise your right hand and count the fingers because they already know Ghosty and Kane are goofs.

    4. You're right. Would Kane be on WBAI if the horse had met his child support obligations?

As for the finger count, I was able to get a plausible total using Mickey Mouse's left hand.

    5. They tried getting a genuine nice guy Native American-American Indian Beringian and had Raven (Gustave Silva) (a Mario Murillo job)who was an American-born Ecuadorian and a two-fisted America white hater and bastard. You can think it, but don't ask out loud.

  6. Who heard Mumbles last night. I think Mumbles' mumbles is a pure schtick. I think he is more with it than anyone on WBAI now.

    1. The schtick is not under Bob's control, so he is not pulling a Fass one, he meanders and he's lost his grip. I'm not even talking about the pervading cut-offs and gaps. The repeated call-letter recitation is, as we would say in Bob's better days, very tired.

    2. Let's compare Babbling Bob and Malachy McCourt, who are both about the same age.

Bob is a blathering buffoon who destroyed himself with false pride and arrogance. His show is a nostalgic hangout for the same five or six druggie burnouts to get together and pretend it's 1968 and MLK, RFK, Manson and Altamont didn't happen yet. Sort of an alternate universe type thing, which Michio Kaku should investigate.

Malachy McCourt is as sharp as a scalpel, funny, informative, and makes his points clearly. He's the kind of guy I want to hang out with.

      Lesson? Do booze, not pot.

    3. Good descriptions of Fass and McCourt. Two VERY different people as far as personality. wit and intellect goes. One to be admired, the other, sadly, to be pitied.

  7. Well, I hate to tell you this, indigo, but that is the kind of statement that every wealthy person makes, or at least thinks, whenever their employees, or tenants, or any other member of the lower orders of society makes a demand that might cost them money. They always think that since they put up the initial investment, they are singly entitled to deference, gratitude, and obedience. Obviously, not all wealthy people act out on this attitude consistently, but it is always there. You do yourself, and whatever "cause" you think you represent, no credit by your rather clumsy, vicarious imitation of it here. Pacifica and WBAI may have been Hill's and Shweitzer's bequest to the world, but such bequest does not entitle them (especially after death), or especially their posthumous claimants to their intellectual mantle, any claim on the future. Having a job at this "inheritance" is neither wealth nor privilege, just a job. Your analogy to profligate wealthy heirs is very inapt, since no one (except, perhaps, to some minor extent, upper mgmt.) is living high on the hog. That they are, and thus far have been, incompetent at either adjusting or replacing their somewhat dated business model to something workable is a given, but that is the fault of either the leadership of the organization, or it's unsalable product, or the structure of the organization, or some combination of the above, not the fact that people try to keep their jobs however they can. Condescension and snobbery make poor arguments.
