KPFK: Under New Management
Gerente General Radford's grief might have been somewhat less wrenching had she not interrupted a vital fund drive to air a hate monger's weekend of racism, homophobia, and anti-seminism. —CA
i got a double dip---she used my post at the waves about "how sad I found" much of the programming to be, and she took my call about putting on too much radical content on the air. Yes, I know, I am famous. I can't help it.
How, exactly, did WBAI's racist stupidity infect the West Coast?
I find it hard to believe that two separate factions of so-called activists have managed to undo decades of great alternative radio simultaneously, thousands of miles from one another. That they've managed a total takeover, in more than one place. Where was the pushback from sane leftist audiences? Where was the pushback from the folks on-air, still doing good radio?
FWIW, I've been streaming Pacifica's KPFT out of Houston. Except for the fact that they play too much music for my taste, they seem to program more intelligent material than I've heard on WBAI for a long time.

ReplyDeleteAnd taken off one of the best fundraiser-programmers this week in this last week of fund drive.
ReplyDeleteSurely , the lunatics have taken over the asylum
ReplyDeleteSad , they can't see the forest for the trees
At this point in its evolution Pacifica’s sole purpose is the advocacy of madness and of hatred.
