Mills on Maxie

Spark News’ Ken Mills—a non-commercial radio guru—strikes a pessimistic note.

  1. Seems a fair assessment.

  2. Here's the comment I just posted over on Spark:

"LOL. You got a scoop! Pacifica hasn't even had the courtesy to announce the arrival of the latest ED within Pacifica or release even a basic press release for the public. Here's a clip of the treatment the national board accorded their new Ed at the last meeting: https://wbai-nowthen.blogspot.com/2018/10/meet-maxie-or-not.html

I have no idea what problems you think Livingston solved. He leaves Pacifica with a $3.2 million loan he signed which is already in default. There is virtually a total collapse of Pacifica's ability to do any financial reporting. The 990 he recently signed was, to put it politely, very problematic. The problem of governance is not one an ED can fix. It's for the board to do that and they have no intention of doing anything to diminish their own grandiose self importance or their incompetent micro-managing. Good luck to Maxie."

    1. Yes, Kim, the near-comatose state of this PNB is baffling.

    2. That duct tape on Maxie's mouth is in part the work of WBAI-LSB member Axel Steinberg—one of the stagnant Marxist who lust for WBAI's reins. He is a blemish with woefully confused priorities.

    3. Forget Maxie,

Maxie - Style differences? We aren't talking fashion. Get Sally Kane as ED!

    4. I just saw her at KBOO. She would definitely be a cut above MAXIE who has a reputation for reviving HSP folklore. A carrot and stick pitch for a blueprint to restructure Community Radio stations. There is no evidence that any of it actually works, it's a blue sky ideology that also functioned as a guidebook for transforming localized stations into NPR repeaters.

      It was discredited years ago
The NFCB has been trying to distance itself from that KRAB-bake for some time and is likely a reason for his departure.

Ironically the NFCB is currently in a free-fall that rivals Pacifica's nose-dive. Meanwhile, GRC is rebounding after a recent slump which is encouraging. GRC is very LPFM friendly. LPFM is a younger crowd and tends to be two or three light years ahead in technology and interlocking broadcast media with internet similar to WFMU.

  3. uh oh ... Mimi and Ken broke out the Ivan Van Sertima crap. Could Joy Degrue and
Henrik Clark be far behind? Looks like their giving Paul Robeson and brake on this one
But it's early in the drive . Give them time . MORONS!

    1. As I predicted. Earlier today they also brought back—on recording, I guess—the scam team of Null and Bates!

  4. I'm surprised they haven't downloaded "Hidden Colors 2: The Triumph of Melanin" from the internet to sell for $200

    1. Rumor has it that Katie's power of levitation failed abruptly, landing her considerable physical weight atop the defanged Bates.

Only a rumor, but it did not originate with Berthold Reimers, so it may be true.

BTW, yesterday I tuned in and heard Kathy pushing a book that—or so she claims—can give its owner the ability to emulate Uri Geller's spoon scam and other accepted deceptions. She hasn't come a long way singe she and Bates sipped the old Double Helix.
