Nocturnal Jumble Jam

Thursday night's "Special Meeting" of the PNB featured a lengthy, appropriately inaudible opening act by Pacifica's very own Marceau mime, an entity who is getting increased attention on WBAI and now seems to have traipsed into the stream.

In the meantime—not to be discounted as an earwitness—our trusty fly on the wall, Indigo, was ready to suck in the sounds that eventually surfaced. A kind soul, he also felt a need to share it all under a brief perceptive predictive preamble.

The entire meeting is linked to below. It speaks for itself, though not eloquently, leaving hope that a follow-up will be dedicated to speak for it. In the background, the green screen shows something red and, perhaps, unread, a Modigliani of unpaid bills and unfulfilled obligations—it's an obscured real life of a future growing increasingly dim. This "Special" telephonic jam session begs for explanation.

Indigopirate's observation gets right to the point... if there was one:

If you’ve followed this decades-long-running ugliness, you know all this all too well.

Livingston put them in a position where it would be possible, if they could, if Pacifica could, learn evolve develop evolve… grow.

It won’t happen.

Pacifica’s people don’t change. Pacifica doesn’t change. It remains in a drifting-through-time state of eternal leftist fractiousness, having abandoned its original foundational mission many decades ago.

These are talentless people no one capable is willing to work with.

Oh, by the way, not a word as of yet of any competent permanent Executive Director.

Perhaps they’re holding the matter in special secret session.

Perhaps they’re deadlocked.

Perhaps they have someone as yet undisclosed.

It doesn’t matter.

It won’t matter.

The present course leads to nowhere until they’ve run through their remaining assets and face the reapers and then in turn the knackers.

The only fate to which they’re truly dedicated.

Sad, ain’t it?

Time to move on…

Special PNB Meeting, Act 1
Special PNB Meeting, Act 2
Special PNB Meeting, Act 3

Unbeknownst to us, there was another astute observer listening in, Jara Handala. Here is what he had to say:

Last nite's marathon PNB railroaded thru a pensions trustee cttee. (Chair Nancy refusing an amendment that would have offered an alternative person to the three put forward by the gatekeepers); Humble DeWayne called iED Major Tom a racist; &, oh yes, Nancy put Point-of-order-madam-chair Adriana in the virtual straight-jacket, a.k.a. zapped by the mute button on the masterboard. Whether Adriana cried no-one could tell, but she seemed somewhat subdued when Nancy let First Secretary Koba ask her how she was voting.

And to add spice to the proceedings, Self-effacing DeWayne seemed to be trying to remind Chair Nancy that the Texas Democrats wanted director Bill Crosier sent into Pacifica exile, barred from the meeting. If only this energy were directed towards constructive goals. But then those like DeWayne would be flying planes all the time.      —Jara Handala

  2. Diligent DeWayne may not have been able to persuade Chair Nancy to expel Busy Bill Crosier from the meeting, but la lucha continĂșa. The many-headed Hydra is not easily tamed. Take Comandante Roberto Gartner. He’s the mover of the 'successful' KPFT LSB witch-hunt motion, & he’s one of those in charge of the KPFT Building Cttee. They meet tomorrow, 10am Central, & they've posted their agenda: "[w]e will clean window casings, sweep leaves, cut lawn, pull up seedling trees, reapply sticky tape to front porch, paint, anything else?" Pretty mundane, you may think. But no. Obviously for legal reasons Roberto hasn't been totally transparent: this is border country, breathing with brimstone, a tempest always on the horizon, & under the shade of that nice tree, in the quietest corner of the plot, next to what looks like a pulley, but isn’t, they’ll dig that hole, the communal hole, the one six feet deep.

  3. I finished listening to this and don't know why I bothered. I still want to hear an episode where they try to order Chinese food delivery or pizza delivery. Imagine how long that would take due to the arguing?

  4. Joking in the other thread about the recording of the proceedings of the anti-coven reminded me that something came up at Thursday’s PNB, probably more important than the three things I mentioned: why are some audios in the Pacifica meetings archive different from the actual proceedings? Adriana raised this, saying she’d been told by someone dealing with the audios that some have been “cleaned”: what’s going on, she asked?

So Adriana wanted the agenda amended. She expressed herself in a somewhat confusing way, but she saw an urgency in what was at stake (33:12 & 38:09 – link at the end). It had come to her attention “at our last Audit Cttee [20 August]”. She spoke of an interruption in the streaming, & seemed to be saying that according to a sound engineer involved, what gets posted to the Pacifica meetings archive isn’t always the Maestro file itself (the one created independently of the stream) – sometimes the world gets a file of what’s streamed (so including interruptions). https://info.maestro.io/

She also noted that others use these recordings as a resource, mentioning the Attorney General (of California, not the hard-pressed dormouse, Sessions). To name the matter at hand she used a concept drawn from a manual for running a ‘Black Site’: the chain of custody – &, this being Pacifica, the topic opened up a can of worms.

Grace-for-the-stack was first in (36:27), saying she’s also on the Audit Cttee, & all this was news to her (for me too – which proves Adriana’s point, yes?). And the Audit Cttee audio says the private session that evening was cancelled as it had no business (56:45, https://kpftx.org/archives/pnb/audit/180820/audit180820a.mp3 – the grid calendar & archive are in error). There’s nothing in the 20 August audio, not even an interruption, so was Adriana referring to the previous Audit Cttee funfest, on the 6th? I can’t re-call a revelation in the public session that evening, a Rapture, & the planned private session also never took place – again, the grid calendar & archive are in error. (Speaking of The Left Behind, can someone persuade Terry Bisson to pen some more paragraphs on Pacifica?)

Anyway, just to be helpful, Grace declared that Adriana should effectively compile a written file, with supporting evidence – Jesus, she was only asking for it to be on the agenda, she wasn’t presenting the case for the prosecution! Then Benito Diaz came to Adriana’s defence (37:18), saying he’d heard of audio manipulation happening before. Finally, Joseph Davis (40:44), like Primo Levi, gave witness: he had seen KPFT LSB delegates “falsify records & change things [. . .] some of whom are seated on the PNB presently”. Given the voting pattern on the PNB this year by KPFT directors, this was aimed at Bill Crosier (he was also the only KPFT director to oppose Adriana’s amendment), but who else was Joseph accusing? Only two in the dock: so was it the people’s fave, Point-of-order-madam-chair Adriana, or one of the Witchfinders-General, Winding-up-very-slowly-into-pompous-&-righteous-indignation DeWayne? Given D’s attempt to get Bill thrown off the PNB the answer is obvious.

Major Tom, in what he thinks (that is, hopes) may be his last PNB meeting, spoke of “the Pacifica family” (39:30, the 2nd audio, denoted ‘b’). Tom, we thank you, we can all rest in comfort that our mytho-familia is alive & well . . . the old star-eaten blanket of the sky / That I may fold it around me and in comfort lie (T E Hulme).

In this audio archive matter, Adriana’s right, of course. Which is why it was dismissed (7 yes - 9 no - 1 abstain). Inexplicably Bill Crosier voted against; maybe one day he’ll explain – accountability is almost non-existent in Pacifica, including explaining one’s voting record.

No-one can imagine that Adriana will let this matter die. The family stays family. (Still a few hours before nightfall in Houston.)

    1. It just goes on and on. The two factions don't even talk to each other between meetings and all the old grievances linger unresolved. People still argue about things that happened years ago like it just happened. Nothing gets solved except in private meetings where they wait until the last possible moment and then they declare they've turned a corner and things are improving. Is there audio manipulation? I don't know but that's not really the issue is it? Its much more basic that that.
