Fingering the JUCs

As the Pacifica disharmony continues, specific topics come and go, but there are recurring leitmotifs. Not the least of these is the strenuous, mostly ludicrous, and always cluelessly counterproductive effort by the NYC JUC faction and its network-wide compadres to make their Pacifica squat permanent. Here is a flurry from last week that started with a typical disingenuous letter posted by JUC character Cerene on May 4th. Like I used to say about WBAI’s perennial aging hippie, Cerene—if given an opportunity—will strangle you with her love beads.

  1. The one other thing that could affect WBAI's signal, probably mainly outside of Manhattan, is the local pirate radio scene. Where I am in Western Queens, there is a station on 99.7 FM that blasts a strong signal 24/7. Luckily, for WBAI, at least, there is no interference. However, if WBAI changed it's transmitter site, who knows what could happen.

I know there are some areas (Southern Brooklyn) where WBAI has interference from local pirate radio stations, which could get worse.

You may ask what the FCC is doing about this. Nothing, of course. They only care about expanding how many broadcast outlets a corporation can own, obscenity nonsense and killing net neutrality.

    1. In Manhattan, where I live, the interference comes from the WBAI circus clowns, incompetent fools like Bates, "the Blacks", Haskins, Prescod (she's still trying to sell the same 15 Robeson sets that she likened to hot cakes several years back), Daulton, et al. Of course, we also are made fully aware of Reimers' total neglect of duties for which he is paid $110,000.00 a year.

WBAI has long been an eminently discardable bitter whimper whose demise will escape the attention of all but a handful of dummies.

The solution, if there remains one, does not lie in better transmission equipment or lower monthly outlay. Only a return to high principles, honesty and intelligent programming could open the door ajar.

  2. My eyes keep rolling over reading this. Its the same arguments from the same people going back years. We don't need groups of people trying to micro-manage. We just need a competent manager who can take care of business and backup his decisions when challenged. Some people seem to think Berthold has ulterior motives. That's giving him too much credit. There is no plan. There is no conspiracy. I think he is literally just going from fundraiser to fundraiser which is arguably worse. Meanwhile the producers come in, complain and don't promote the station in any way and get upset when they're pre-empted for another fundraiser.

  3. Please remember that Steve Brown said that Berthold Reimers had two MBAs in Finance and was a Certified Public Accountant.

    Thank you.

  4. In case you didn't know about the possibility that WBAI host Randy Credico may have been the go-between for the Trump campaign and Wikileaks:

    1. No wonder we can't fix the station. Everyone is involved in some sort of conspiracy. The JUC trying to deliver WBAI to MNN, Randy taking selfies outside the Ecuadorean Embassy in London, Berthold offering financial coaching from a company linked to his family, Gary Null and his brain stuff and retreats. The Siegel-Brazon crowd trying to take KPFA for themselves and just who are those yellow magnet guys are anyway? Its a riddle Chris. A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma.
