A game of desperation?

Saturday morning: Jim Dingeman has just posted a confirmation and updated the time. Please note that it is now set for 5 PM on Monday. Or is it?

A post by Alex Steinman on Nalini's listserv is casting some doubt regarding the veracity of the town hall meeting (see below). My source was a post by Jim Dingeman, whose growing frustration with WBAI and Pacifica is ever growing (and understandably so).

Alex Steinberg wrote:
This is a mistake. There is no meeting on Monday. I just confirmed with Bill Crosier and he knows nothing about this meeting.  Alex Steinberg

To which Jim Dingeman replied:

That is inaccurate

I set up this meeting many hours ago and mentioned that it would be a mass meeting

Unlike some
I have had to for years when head of the cab chair meetings like this

Frankly it would be a positive event

If people have changed their mind
So be it

But there was no mistake
Period

Is the fake news policy of WBAI now spreading to its genuine supporters? I leave it to you to interpret—Remember, Steinberg tends to be snarky and, as noted, Jim is teetering on the edge of exasperation. Will the fat lady sing to an empty house?

  1. If this were real, an announcement would be posted on an official BAI or Pacifica website. Has anyone seen such an announcement?

  2. I can't confirm the confirmation of the meeting. I can confirm my confusion about all this.

    1. As I just replied to a friend's request for clarity:

You want clarity from a Pacifica disunit?

Right now, as I stick a wet finger in the air, I sense the possibility of lay lemmings gathering at 388 around 5PM on Monday. I see an oleo ball from JUC bouncing around to escalate confusion. Much yelling, no telling, and the crunch of trampled-upon rose colored glasses.

I see a meeting called to disorder.

  4. I just spoke with Berthold and he said he plans to be there. He has strongly urged all staff to attend as well.

    1. The entity that calls itself "General Manager" will attend this meeting?

I am shocked! Shocked, I tell you... SHOCKED!!!!

    2. Newly married couple Janice K. Bryant and Dred Scott Keyes will be there too!

  5. I wonder how many people will really attend, especially listeners.

    1. It's hard to guess. Remember, this is the very end of a holiday weekend and Brooklyn isn't everybody's neighborhood. On the other hand, there are quite a number of listeners who have questions and—unlike Reimer and Bates—Bill Crosier will listen to them. That said, I doubt if there will be more than 100 to 200, max. Which is a lot for today's WBAI. I just hope they control themselves and allow Bill to speak. Cerene will probably be there, if for no other reason than to disrupt.

I still think the entire meeting ought to be on the air.

    2. Any such meeting ought indeed be aired live.

  6. I have long said the local meetings and the main PNB meetings should be aired live. Of course, the listeners would probably disappear even quicker than they are now.

    1. You might be right, but hearing the cluelessness and animosity might inspire some decent, intelligent people to get involved. Recently, we have seen some pretty good people come aboard.

  7. They really need an opening act for this shindig. Perhaps a magician who makes money appear and disappear?

  8. Apropos desperation, they just aired the commercial so many people hated when it was the main course of past marathons: Natalie whatshername's commercial for Gwen Scott's "Natural Living, a Survivor's Guide" set of 3 DVDs.

Nothing has been changed, they are still telling listeners that this set can only be had through WBAI, but not only has that never been the case, "Dr." Scott, who is on the phone throughout the hour, has been dead since March, 2015.

The fact is that this 3-DVD product is available in a number of places on the Internet and at a much lower price. What WBAI wants $150 for is being sold for $39 or less elsewhere. Of course, some of these online outlets may be as dead as Ms. Scott, but none of this bothers WBAI, because it was revealed a couple of years ago that they burn their own!

I believe there was a lawsuit in the making when Scott passed away. Did I say "scam"? No, I hollered it!

What next? The return of Double Helix tap water? More zappers? A revision of the revised history of Africans? A fund to keep the crap coming and promote sainthood for "mumia" and admiral Garvey?

There are endless possibilities when fraud becomes a dictum.

We need to encourage and support Bill Crosier in his healing/restoration efforts.
