The Chef was in the kitchen...

From: Berthold Reimers <reimersberthold@yahoo.com>

Dear esteem LSB members,

I am announcing to you that WBAI has finally raised $20,000.00 in one day of funddrive today. This has not happened since 2012 when we were at 120 Wall Street and Tony Bates was interim Programming Director. This is a big development because this number was continually going down as R Paul Martin articulated when we were discussing the Budget projections last time. Note also that our average per day is $12,192.00 not counting the Gary Null Retreat which is over $5,000.00 as of now.

  1. "... WBAI has finally raised $20,000.00 in one day of funddrive today. This has not happened since 2012..." I could be wrong, but I am recalling rare $20,000+ days in 2014 and 2015 claimed, when Null was on several times per day.

If these figures are factual, I'm counting WBAI is roughly $22,000 under goal, in pledges, for the beg-a-thon up to 2/17/17.

If these figures are correct, then it's amazing how much of the same shit you can shovel down peoples' throats over and over again.

What I see, more than anything, is a point of praising Bates, who may be drawing two salaries, as a consultant and "program manager, or whatever Reimers calls him. I guess Reimers needs to justify Bates being there.

    1. If there is any honest justification for having Bates on board, I would love to hear it. Of course, we are yet to hear a valid reason for Reimers' alleged presence.

The above figures were sent to WBAI's LSB and passed on by Mitchel, who has made a career of inventing justifications.

    2. Mitchel Cohen, you mean, I presume. Yes, what is the point of Bates? Isn't part of Katz job to organize beg-a-thons and benefits?

    3. There is no point in having Bates around—have you noticed how he ha escalated his distortions re WBAI? If his larcenous little mind told him that WBAI has proven its power to topple foreign governments, he would give that as a reason for listeners to purchase over-priced pirated CDs burned by the station. No moral conscience.

  2. Chris,

Accounting 101. Cost of Goods Sold. Or are the DVDs being illegally copied.

Illegally copying DVDs and mailing them via the United States Postal Service makes WBAI and Pacifica eligible for the big time- a RICO indictment.

    1. Ed, have you ever seen or heard mentioned a fee or license in connection with material sold by the station?

I doubt that you have, yet we know that much music and spoken material is offered by WBAI at a price. Just because Pacifica made the actual recording of a speech or lecture does not grant it rights to sell it for profit.

I doubt that I am telling you anything you—and many of us—don't know. The perpetrators can only hide behind that thin veil of naïvité for so long.

    2. Prescod claims on the extendomercial for the Cubans in Africa DVD that she has a special deal with the filmmaker. I'd love to see the proof.

You know what the upside of not sending out most DVD, CD and thumb drive premiums is? With so few out there, it's difficult for people to find copies for examination and truly say they are boots.

    3. Knee knee is on now, telling us that the drive is over tomorrow. So you know this is old infomercial being revived, these people haven't a clue and what you say about Prescod and who claim to have gone through hell and fire to get Lucy's copies that she is selling is probably absolutely true. She is also most likely still selling the same 15 copies of The Paul Robeson package. I'm waiting for the double helix tap water to come back in a variety of fruit flavors.

  3. So what ? The Empire State Building is suing WBAI/Pacifica for 1.3 million dollars. Even if they raised $20,000 per day, every day, it would take 65 days of fundraising to reach that amount. WBAI is going down the tubes sooner or later. It is just a matter of time.

    1. An during the 65 days, the bills will continue to mount. I agree that it is but matter of time—not much time.

  4. Chris,

If my memory is correct, WBAI was forced, under threat of litigation, to destroy a DVD set, which was duplicated illegally; and then WBAI had to purchase copies of the DVD set from the individual, who owned the copyright.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the DVD set.

I believe that Steve Brown mentioned this at the time of the Gary Null bullshit lawsuit. I really liked the Null lawsuit. Mitchel Cohen was screaming like a stuck pig that he was being sued.

    Thank you.

    1. My recollection of that is that BAI had a disc duplicator on premises and, when there were accusations of illegal duplication, Summer Reese ordered Reimers to get it out of the station. I believe one of the victims was "Dr." Gwen Scott whose "Natural Medicine: A Survivor's Guide" was being plugged to death. BAI's infomercial claimed that this set was only available from the station and never mentioned that Scott herself sold it online for a fraction of that price. Scott was, I believe, becoming aware of this when she died. And, yes, Mitchel was named in a lawsuit, which had him climbing the walls far too excessively denying complicity.

When Null abandoned the lawsuit, it confirmed to me what a BS manipulator he is.

    1. It's another in a ludicrous series of reruns—from the con duo that brought us double helix tap water. Lovely people, these WBAI crooks.

  6. OK, I choked on my water when I just heard Mimi say that tomorrow is the last day of this mini fund drive. That was almost as funny as when she gave a summer weather report on a freezing day. This is what happens when you play the same old rerecorded extendomercials drive after drive after drive after drive after drive after drive after drive after drive after drive after drive after drive after drive...

    1. Exactly what I was talking about. You would think that learn something by now, but these people have Low capacity minds. They are absolute, certifiable knuckleheads.

    2. At least make a new recording every few months, so it's not as stale. I'd really love to see a demographic breakdown on who the people purchasing the premiums are.

  7. Interesting that the two weekend days are the lowest dollar pledged days...substantially lower!
Most research I've seen shows the highest cume is seen on weekends, specifically Saturday/Sunday mornings, 9a-1p for non commercial/educational/NPR stations. Why does WBAI do poorly during that period?

    1. I think the audience that tunes in to hear opera and renaissance music on Sunday mornings is repelled by the insulting, hour-long sales pitches, most of which are based upon fraudulent claims.
