Haskins hears voices...

The Reimers-Bates team's shameless exploitation of Martin Luther King, Jr. is over, for now, but there's another fundraising month around the corner. In the meantime, the station continues to scare off what's left of a listenership by airing a plethora of idiocy, black misinformation and downright embarrassing utterances by regular misfits.

There is still neither rhyme nor reason detectable in the kind of pot luck warmed-over rubbish that characterizes today's WBAI as it nears the bottom of the pit at record speed.

From time to time, this blog does no more than serve as a reminder of how appalling the station has become. Black is beautiful—blackface is not. Hypocrisy, fraud and marketed deception is an ongoing insult to once loyal listener-supporters.

So far, one of today's embarrassing moments comes from the designated "Chief Announcer", Michael Haskins. He generates them every weekday, but now he has a crystal ball with a direct link to the White House. Add this one to his growing list of ineptitudes and shallow "profundities."

  1. I'm surprised Hay-tie didn't mention Mumbles. Anyway, he is the worst at filling up airtime with drivel. He truly sounds like an idiot that doesn't know what to say. He'd be better taking a quick call from a listener to fill time.

    1. He's always at a loss for words, so he says everything at least twice. My favorite part of this one is the psychic segment where he assumes the role of a fly in a crystal vase.

Amazing disgrace, how tweet thou art....

    2. Yeah, he does that thing of repeating what he said with an attempt at being dramatic. It comes off as fake and affected.

Maybe "Cake" Davis gave him some psychic tips so he can do asstral trips now.

He better hope WBAI stays around, because he will never get another job in radio.

    3. I have to agree with you. I tried to come up with just one broadcasting function that he can do right.

There isn't one. His ineptitude is well-rounded and remarkably consistent

    1. Much of the "historical fact" perpetuated/invented by the likes of John Henrik Clarke and "Dr. Ben"—and presented as unquestioned truth by the likes of Tony Bates. There i yet another fund drive coming up, it will run through the month of February and you can bet it will contain numerous rebroadcasts of the infomercial in which Bates sells alleged black history DVDs. That commercial alone contains a plethora of unsubstantiated, imagined black achievements.

When so many actual, proven black accomplishments exist, one has to wonder why these self-tagged "scholars" felt a need to resort to fabrication. My own take on that is that they—like most con artists—had to startle in order for their utterings to be noticed. It's common modus operandi.
