WBAI Treasurer's Report - September 10, 2014
Here is the download link: ...and here, via Geoff Brady's show, is one reason why WBAI's down button is stuck...
Nothing really new or surprising in the report. I guess one could insert a joke about a "commie" radio station running in the red being ironic. Maybe WBAI should release a home study course called How To Live Without Paying Bills. Just amazing that they get away with it. In the 1960s or 1970s, this would have been the dreamed of excuse for the authorities to kill the station. You know... Back when WBAI had listeners...
Looking at the date, shouldn't Mario Murillo be on the iPD job now? Maybe it's time for a Report To (With) The Listener, since it's been a while. This would be a good time for Murillo to tell the audience what his views and intentions are.
That Brady stuff was so funny that I actually had to listen when it was broadcast. There are indeed some real nuts out there, as well as some very sly people who know how to weave yarns the nuts will pay for.
In a sense, this crap reminds me of the "Satanic Panic" of the 1980s. Yeah, I was a heavy metal kid (until the hair metal shit became popular) and lived through it all. Well, it all really started with a book of repressed memories (sound familiar?) called Michelle Remembers. Instead of being laughed at, it was taken seriously enough by enough goofs to make a lot of people a lot of money being Satan hunters. Sadly, nonsense like this tends to go into a self-perpetuating mode that victimizes people, like the McMartin preschool fiasco, where even some prosecutors believed the crap.
Here's an idea: WBAI should have DNA paternity testing like "The Maury Show".
