Today, Bill Crosier posted a letter to apprise us of the storm situation in Houston and how things are going at KPFT relative to that.
Here is a link to Bill's letter in PDF format. Can you imagine Berthold Reimers posting such a letter? Chances of Pacifica's survival, much less its restoration, are as slim as they have ever been, but I urge all who care to be as supportive of Bill Crosier as possible.
Letter from Bill Crosier re Harvey
Perhaps the Pacifica producer/hosts who were so eager to raise money for the victims in Haiti might give a thought to doing something similar for those in KPFT's area who need help.
ReplyDeleteMaybe.....
HAHAHA! You're a funny guy, Chris! You must have really knocked them dead with your stand up comedy routine back in the day. WBAI raising money for Texas. Oh, that's better than watching paint dry, I tell ya...

KPFK is raising money for KPFT. They're planning to send half of each pledge to KPFT.
DeleteWBAI should do the same.
They probably would pitch for KPFT, but it's still too white for the bigoted BAI bozos.
DeleteHalf? So, KPFK is getting half for themselves?
DeleteSDL
You've been listening to Brady for too long SDL:). You're seeing conspiracies everywhere. Half of each pledge for KPFT and half for KPFK. I can't say I blame you. Last I heard, they were still trying to stick Pacifica with the bill for settling the union grievances.
DeleteI just figured if you're pitching to help out a sister station in a disaster, you send 100% to them, if allowed to do so by FCC rules.

Perhaps they see it as a foster station, or they calculate the proportion by color. At Pacifica, I selfless generosity is but the primer.
DeleteI just posted this to RadioWaves in response to Bill's letter:
ReplyDeleteHi Bill –
Thanks for the report. Glad you and yours are safe. The reports and pictures are incredible.
Letters and Politics just had Mark Bebawi on. He’s a good programmer and gave a good on-the-ground report. Mitch said he had also been on Up Front earlier. Is KPFT doing any special programming focusing on the storm? Call-in programs for people to give local reports? Announcements of useful information to help listeners? Maybe the other stations could help KPFT with the news and reports they’re gathering. It’s a little embarrassing that Democracy Now scooped KPFT with Bryan Parras. This could be an opportunity for KPFT to get some new listeners with some community involvement on the air.

Reimers, Murillo only care about their home countries - Haiti & Colombia.

ReplyDeleteShouldn't Geoff Brady and his friends have been able to provide warning by analyzing the chem-trails of the gov't operatives that created the storm?
I'm sure Pacificans will soon enough be accusing and complaining about how the storm and response was targeted at "people of color".
