As WBAI turns to dust...

WBAI is a station that simply does not have a sense of humor. Not so sister station KPFA--listen to this, which I lifted from Tracy Rosenberg:

Twit  away...

... And again!

  1. I LOVE Twit Wit Radio and never miss it. It should be on network wide.

  2. There is a guy playing Frank Sinatra- Learning the Blues- Nelson Riddle arr. 1955 and an Artie Shaw piece= schedule says his name is Dwight Brewster. Where has he been my whole life? Now come up with some Tommy Dorsey, Benny, Glenn Miller and Ray Anthony and I'll donate to BAI.

Have you noticed how people of his ilk (I.e. Truth-stunners) often use the "so-called" prefix?

And if so , why are they not leaving . Talking mostly about the morons on bai.

    1. Yes, he did advocate that, which is why he was friendly with the Ku Klux Klan in fact he had a meeting with them down in Georgia I believe and we never hear that mentioned by that BAI people. He also bought this tub, the Black Star, a not seaworthy.steamer, which was the centerpiece of his scam. Not so savory a figure as the WBA people
would like you to think but then look at them.

    1. Yes, somebody got to idiot Reimers--actually, a several complaints were heard, even on the embarrassing Haskins ear sore.

Moving Michi to 3 am is a stupid move. Heard Halpern beginning to end this evening... It really needs to be added to the dumpster.

      Delete
    2. I have to say that even with the criticism some people express, TPCS has serious support, if it could change Reimer's mind. Remember, Reimers doesn't listen to anyone.

      Agreed about Kaku.

Finally, you got the Hapler treatment. What an arrogant, unfunny, bigoted, bitter person she is. She's kind of like a young Mimi, when you think of it.

By the way, Julliana Forlano's Twitter account said she will be returning to radio soon. However, it didn't mention if it's WBAI or somewhere else. Fingers crossed it's not WBAI. Remember that Perry took over when Forlano went off. Even with her faults, I'll take Perry any day over Forlano.

    3. The bad actor who has the GM role in this farce has "promised" to change 70% of the programming, so we have many horrendous decisions to look forward to.

Will the fool reach his 70% goal before it all goes over the edge?

    6. We all know that if current WBAI management makes a good move, they have to make a few bad ones.

Michio at 3 am? That's an even bigger slap in the face (in my opinion, anyway) than cancelling or moving OTH or TPCS. Or bringing back Juliana Forlano. Or having Katie Halpern on the air at all.

    7. I could not agree more, Justine, it's an insult to intelligence.

  8. (JustAListener)

TPCS off, TPCS on, the usual unfathomable randomness of the Reimers era.
BTW is Kaku doing new shows? I heard old repeats so often I stopped listening.
And a question for the broadcast savvy out there:
Is it possible in 2016 for people broadcasting to balance sound levels?
I know WBAI's studio barely merits the designation "studio" but on OTH and TPCS the person on the phone (Bernie or Joe) was blasting so I couldn't hear both the phone person and the studio person without constant volume adjustments. (Maybe I'll just download the audio file and run it through Audacity...)

    1. There is no way that levels can't be maintained, even with cheap equipment. The solution is:

Employ engineers who know the equipment and give a damn about the listener.

Haskins and Reggie have been there for a very long time (over three decades for Haskins, the most inept of them), so there is no excuse--Steve Post became one of the nastiest people at WBAI, but it only took an afternoon for me to teach him.

Pride in one's work is essential.

    2. I believe this weeks show was new and I think it was An excellent one. I would be very surprised if Reimers is not forced to change his mind once again, and even more surprised--not to say, delighted--if he were forced out of that job at last.

    1. It's all rattling aroun in Reimers' empty head, like dicê in a Dixiecup.

The posted schedule, like the rest of WBAI's website, is always a random tangle of misinformation. Reimers screws everybody as he sinks the tub.

    2. Perhaps he can enlighten us on his report to the listener Fri. 6AM.

    1. Interesting that you should bring him up because I think one of his first stops was W VAI. I will always remember the afternoon this man kind a disheveled and not yell look like something from the bar he came to me but I'm in a get great talker and he said he had a client was going to be a sensation and this was the singer and he would like to bring them by, so I made appointment for the next day and and walk tiny chip with his paper shopping bag crumpled up he reached into the bag took out a ukulele and started singing one of those songs and we all know now and it was so weird it was like almost unreal but so unreal that I had to put him on there so I arrange to do an interview with him . It's probably somewhere in the archives well maybe not if it is I think it's well worth digging out because this was truly the beginning in the manner you wanted to get into the back to so he said and he broke into this very overly dramatic owed to a pair the kind you eat it was unreal but yes we should've done A benefit although it wouldn't of been as effective, because tiny Tim was totally unknown at that point. Richard Limpar scan I did however call upon tiny Tim are happening that we conducted the Carnation number of an emperor and well that's another story but that's also in the archives . We involved antiwar hall and that one it was quite a thing it should've been photographed in film but it never was it was a real happening right on Broadway in what became the very first disco ever.

    3. I get the main ideas. Kind of funny how it came out considering the topic was a whack job like Tiny Tim. :)

And not soon after that he would be a spectacle on TV in the late 60s/early 70s. I used to see him when I was a tiny tot, and my mother would always call him "Que disgracia..." I liked him, though. Maybe being a few years old and liking someone so off the wall is telling about me in some way. Anyway, by the time I was 10 I was already reading National Lampoon. By that age, my father was already taking me to see movies like Dr Strangelove, The Wild Bunch, Fellini, Kurasawa, Deathrace 2000, and I was a diehard fan of Sergio Leone, etc. I had a wonderfully eclectic anarchistic upbringing when I think about it.

    1. Randy and I had a strong disagreement over Robert Knight, but that was long ago. Sometimes I think he is playing up to Reimers and I don't like that', however he does a very good show when the interviews the right people in the first half of tonight show I thought it was excellent, Serpico too.

    3. Randy Credico is a professional failure. That's why he is a perfect fit for WBAI. He had a chance with Carson three decades ago, but self-saboutaged himself purposely so he could end up in the best fit for him, a dung-hole called WBAI hanging with a Walter Mitty Fenian like John McDonagh. Pog Mo Thoin to both of them.

    6. Randy Credico is a manic motormouth like Alec Baldwin. As such, any salient points he may bring up are drowned out by the rest of his gibberish. His guests are losers, like Professor Irwin Corey and Lionel. He went down to Buenos Aires and brought back "Mothers of the Disappeared" trying to make the vapid argument that the prisoners of New York State, esp. of the Rockefeller Drug Laws offenders are like the disappeared during the Argentine junta. He might make a salient point here or there, but "even a broken watch is correct twice a day".
