An unvarnished blog that dips into the past and comments
on the present of WBAI-FM, a once significant, intelligent New York
radio station that for years has suffered chronic abuse from within and now
nears extinction. Your comments are welcomed and will not be censored.
And if anybody needs further proof , tune in to hear the "luminary" doctor ben . And if you are late , don't worry they play it about 5 times a day . Just another example of the complete and absolute garbage they are putting on the air.
As a comedian, I think Credico is exceedingly unfunny, but I thought his interview with Serpico was excellent—he allowed him to speak uninterrupted, for the most part, and when he stepped in, he did so with impressive knowledge of the subject.
In my opinion, this was the sort of program WBAI needs, I am, however, astounded by Credico's totally unwarranted praise for "engineers" Haskins and Johnson, and even more so by his labeling the station's current, third-rate black programming as "over the top quality".
I guess his ambivalence is brought on by desire for a steady favorably scheduled time slot.
I agree that Serpico really didn't need Credico, except in the unintrusive role he played. It showed good judgement on Credico's part. At 81, Mr. Serpico is probably not up to carrying a steady program, but I hope he is welcomed whenever he feels like it—with a worthy audience size, of course.
The Black Lives Matter, Haitian all-stars, duo of Dorothy's friends, and racist vipers should be flushed out and their slots given over to people of intelligence and integrity. I would hope that every listener not agree with every opinion aired, but I don't think it is too much to demand honesty—a sorely missing ingredient at WBAI.
That said, I still see no hope for restoration of WBAI's significance.
Long time ago I came across Serpico's website (maintained by one of his nephews). I sent a short email, and then actually got a reply about 2 months later. Not an auto generated reply. But an actual response.
Based on everything I know about his case, I think it's just sad. For whatever reasons, he's never found the peace that every human being deserves. Maybe someday he will.
Did some online research about Serpico over the last 20 years or so. He's still speaking out about cop corruption in different venues (NY City Council, Politico, college campuses). He's also showing up on garbage like Infowars. Considering what he's been thru, he deserves way better.
If BAI ever gets their act together, here's something their news dept. should investigate. A major part of Puerto Rico's debt restructuring is massive austerity measures (layoffs and more). Also, Guliani got a group of mega rich investors to buy up all of the properties that the Puerto Rico govt. and businesses are selling. Literally for pennies on the dollar. Meanwhile, the media won't touch this. Instead, they just give him a platform for his racist garbage. That includes Bloomberg as well.
Since the DNC had Bloomberg speak at their convention, that means that they're all for racism as well.
Randy Credico also had on Gerson Borrero, If there is anyone more inane than Lionel, it is Gerson Borrero, the "friend" of Sliwa. I have not listened because I want to hold onto my dinner.
HAHA!

It just so happens that I am preparing a post on that very embarrassing bundle of ignorant utterances. Stay tuned.
DeleteRandy Credico is hawking the documentary "Giuliani Time"; I am downloading if NOW for free from VEOH.

I listened to Randy Credico's interview with Frank Serpico. He made Serpico sound as schmucky as he is.

I think Credico should have gone out for lunch and just let Serpico take over.
DeleteWBAI should just give Serpico a weekly program on police corruption and be done with it. He'd be better than the Black Lives Matter crowd.

WBAI has not had its act together for many years, nor—at this stage of the systematic vandalism—is it ever likely to.
