Videos of LSB 1 and LSB 2 fighting it out separately...

Here are separate meetings by WBAI's two  disparate factions, captured on video by Joe Friendly, who is not a disinterested party, but appears to be somewhat ambivalent when it comes to choosing factions. He posted these videos to Youtube as "publicity," whatever that is supposed to mean. Clearly angered by the no-show Indys, some of the JUC call for their recall, claiming that they are the wrecking crew! The JUCs are attempting to achieve a quorum, but the absence of the Indy faction makes that impossible.

These videos speak for themselves—most of us already know what's going on, but this further underscores it. If nothing else, you will at least see their faces, and you might get a kick out of what appears to be a boxing ring in the first video.

    1. Good description! There's a bit of an argument near the end of the JUC video, otherwise it's kinda mausoleum-like.

  2. It is a mockup of a boxing ring for a play about Jack Johnson being performed at the
Theater for the New City. Meanwhile, the JUC rant and rave in a room full of hearts.
Perhaps James Sagurton is a better person than I am to be able to sit through all the
BS at the JUC without exploding at the bogus member (Vajra), the chairman with a temper,
Ralph's calls for unilateral action and Lynne Stewart feigning ignorance and wondering
why those bad Indy folks just won't show up.

    1. The ring and hearts don't quite come up to Mozart, but they worked for me.

Lynn Stewart seems not to have one foot in the grave, as we were told repeatedly by the BAI JUC bozos. They are, of course using the same violin to evoke sympathy for Mummie, but I hear no weakness in his voice these days, just a lack of depth.

    2. Interesting. Theater for the New City is where I watched one of these spectacles live many years ago. It was great theater all right. One board member assaulted another (DiRienzo assaulted by that racist black attorney whose name now escapes me), great shouting from the audience (especially MeMe, in her best courtroom demeanor)... I know that it was taped. It may still be on youtube somewhere. After the medievalism and bolshevik tactics got started, the director of the theater came in and announced that "if one more punch gets thrown, I'm calling the police and you will never be allowed back here."

Just got through 5 minutes of the Indy meeting. Reminds me of the psych ward in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Especially the mental patient haircuts. Anyways, you've got to admire a radio station that not only attracts the crazies but motivates them to involve themselves!

    3. The one to blame for Lynne Stewart and her troubles is her husband, Ralph Poynter. Instead of telling her to modulate her over-the-top advocacy of everything anti-American and anti-white, he encouraged her, facilitated her and enabled her and she wound up in the slammer. The best thing she could do for herself is to divorce this African-American agent provocateur of a husband and maybe she'll stay out of pokey.

    4. At least Pointer stood by her. I love the way he squeezed a lie into his introduction of himself. He did not by any means bring the first black engineer to WBAI. I brought Tom Tracy over from WNEW when I became manager. He was a professional engineer/producer and he was/is black.

The JUCsters are anathema to the original spirit of Pacifica. I wonder if Brinkley hitting RPM was caught on video.

    5. I posted the referred to LSB meeting once before, but it deserves a revisit. Notice how there is actually an audience there, as opposed to these days?

    6. Ugh! That's the meeting I attended! In fact, I actually saw myself in the audience in that clip. Amazing that more than a decade has passed and NOTHING has changed.

I did, though, figure out the name of the racist black attorney, thanks to youtube's other selected vids. He was/is Michael Warren. Good friend of Bernie and a loathesome person.

  3. Regarding Jan 26:

Is this a public or private meeting? There seems to be five or six people, which makes me ask if they were invited or it was public.

Considering my recent jokes about the LSB wrestling matches, it's funny to see them being able to afford 1/4 of a ring.

For all the talk of attracting younger listeners, there seems to be no one under 45 years old here, among these people dressed in homeless garb.

    I liked the musical soundtrack.

I love the one guy when he asked, "What was the heyday of WBAI?" And then the other guy with, "What's the major cost of running the station? I listen to it occasionally."

I'm with the Santa Clause guy who talked about WNYC and WBAI being the most commercial station always selling stuff.

I'll catch the Jan 27 one later on.

    1. I think the public is invited to these meetings. On the JUC tape, did anyone notice how Pepsi Charles' son reluctantly gave his name, then had nothing further to say for the rest of the meeting—he didn't even look up, just kept writing something in his notebook.

Yes, old Santa had a good moment.

    2. These meetings are public. However, their idea of notice is to post on kpftx.org and a small window at the bottom of the WBAI website. On the WBAI site, you'll also see committee meetings scheduled for Sundays in the late afternoon which is the worst time to hold a meeting if you don't live nearby. One of them is only open to the public for a half hour.
I don't how well known kpftx.org is to people. I only found it because I was interested in learning about the other stations who seems to use it a lot more than WBAI does. In the JUC meeting, Brinkley was talking about a public list. This is the first I've heard of it. Its a little odd to me that a radio station can't get the word out about their own meetings.

    3. One thing that always strikes me as funny is the number of times I see "Evaluation of GM" (or some such thing) listed on the agenda. If ever there was a manager whose performance needed to be evaluated, it is Berthold Reimers, yet I have not seen any sign of that having been done.

      Delete
    4. The next GM Eval Comm. meeting is Sunday at 5PM. You'll need to hurry because they're going into executive session at 5:30PM. Apparently, evaluating the GM is a complicated task which requires time and attention. I just saw an LSB meeting notice for the tenth.

BTW at the end of the JUC video, Cerene compares the practice of not showing up to a meeting to deny quorum to rape and slavery. I find this amazing because I literally saw her and her group not show up to the meeting in December for about an hour.

      Delete
    5. Serene is an amazing, very flawed piece of work. At least she was among her own JUCs, so she didn't do any shoving or chair-pulling, but she did become verbally abusive.

That analogy with rape and slavery was utterly outrageous.

  4. Jan 27:

I really don't have anything to say about the JUC yuks' meeting. What is interesting is when you compare the two groups, and their supporters, the independents look like a bunch of benign goofs enjoying cheesecake (if I heard right) with "Cake" Davis, while the JUC yuks look like a pack of miserable, dour jerks.

Ultimately, the question is who is correct and following the bylaws.

Cerene Roberts is simply nuts. Coca Cola Charles seemed to be there just to say goodbye.

The funniest thing is how this is a fight over a 50,000 watt station in the middle of the FM radio dial, and the total number of people interested in this (LSB and audience) doesn't even number forty people. I think that is the ultimate commentary.

By the way, remember a couple of months back the in "studio" show with the candidates for the LSB? Funny how all those candidates were JUC yuks.

    1. It's all very bizarre, very unorthodox... In a negatives s or t of way. F rom what I've heard. so far, the present fund drive echoes the one recently completed, which was a failure... Devastating Deja's vu all over again, and again, and again... With diminishing returns. I still think it's odd that Null goes on doing his show (sans pitching) as if everything is honky dory.

Mimi doing her black face routine and screaming for reparations is also unreal, bu.t so ism an whiten actor being cast as Michael Jackson!

  5. The Management Evaluation Committee DID conduct a detailed questionnaire of the staff, which completed last December 5th. I don't know how many they received, but I think it was quite a few, with some people (me!, for one) writing substantial comments.

  8. Is this Null rant also a pitch?

    1. Yup. Null is pitching but without offering a premium. I guess he wants WBAI to have money to pay him for "damages."

Reggie sounds like he's falling asleep... or is that knowing how full of shit Null is and suing? Poor Reggie, tortured by this.

      SDL

      Delete
    2. Reggie is not the only one being tortured.

Yes, it's a pitch, but a half-assed one. I am guessing that offering one of his products might conflict with his lawsuit claims whereas just wanting to "keep the nation alive" could serve Null well in this case, as it were.

Reggie does sound bored. I wonder if the voices in the background come from Casa BAI or a hotel hallway wherever Null is "on the road."

    3. Maybe they are the voices in Null's head..?

    4. That could be. Now we are being treated to an encore presentation by the beloved Double-Helix team of Kathy and Tony. They are talking about pending New Year's resolution, so I guess this one is from November-December 2015.

Do they really think it will work better this time?

      Delete
    5. It all sounds like the same old stuff, without and Stuff. I think they will fall short of the goal by a large amount, especially due to Null's not offering his products. I guess it is best to await comments from RPM, probably next week.

I just turned WBAI on and see it's the same old premiums. I've said it before and will say it again - get some new damn premiums! It's bad enough how often they ask for money, but when it's the same few premium shows, it get boring and annoying as all hell. Bringing back Hay-tie Haskins doing the Hay-tie premium is not new.

  9. WBAI needs a premium of a conspiracy DVD set where someone exposes Pacifica and its antics, the WBAI premium scam, etc. I think that would be a great premium to offer.

I'm better studying Dutch than listening to the bozos.

    1. Did Haskins grunt his agreements throughout? I turned to a real radio station as soon as I heard what Faulkner was doing. I have a strong feeling that we didn't get the real story from the official side, but I bet neither of them questioned any of this woman's assumptions. These oafs are so-o-o-o irresponsible.

May I suggest Esperanto instead of Dutch... it's such a neglected linguistic mishmash, and at parties? Well, I think it beats name-dropping.

Does anyone have any details to share re Brinkley hitting R. Paul?

      Delete
  10. Yes, I am with you on 9/11. However, the trufers get away making the most outrageous claims without any real rebuttal, which leaves the logical, questioning people lumped in with the crazies. I think that's why the trufers get to have an open field. Remember the woman on Geoff Brady's show babbling about laser beams a couple of years ago?

Esperanto... Now that's going back in time. There used to be a good number of Esperanto shortwave broadcasts years back, during the Cold War era, but now only one or two remain. As for the Dutch, I am surrounded by Dutch and Flemish people lately. I'm just looking to learn basic reading, writing and communication skills so I know the basic ideas being written or spoken about. Maybe I should just go back where it all started - Anglo-Saxon. People are told that English comes from German, but the truth is that it comes from a dialect of German, Anglo-Saxon, as does Dutch and Frisian, the closest currently active language to the original. Of course, I could study Ebonics...

All I know about the RPM vs Brinkley bare knuckles brawl is what I read on the BB. Lefever claims a police report was made. What will come of it, I don't know. Right now it looks like the WBAI LSB is imploding. I would suggest we all start the WBAI Listeners Committee, but I know I will be the only one to show at any meeting.

    1. She just said, "We need to keep KPFK on the air." Apart from asking WBAI listeners to keep KPFK on the air, the fact that nobody IS calling should tell the local bozos that this repeat is a waste of time. Prescod also told the listeners to take action, because she has only a limited number of whatever product she's pushing. This is so stupid, because the campaign scene is constantly changing, so even a day or two can make this hopelessly passé.
