In case you are not among the handful who take in this steady diet of morning racism, here's a distillation of the 6 to 7 am portion of lifetime amateur Michael Haskins' November 23rd slop. This audio concentrate may well be the most embarrassing radio show in the New York City area.
Even Will K. Wilkins was better than this.

Wow! I almost forgot about him. Bad as he was, he seems like Harry Reasoner next to Michael G.
DeleteWilkins' name is new to me. I gather that I didn't miss anything. Was he a morning host?
DeleteHe was a morning host in the 80's. But don't forget Errol Maitland & Janice K. Bryant. Janice was married to Dred Scott Keyes for a few years as well. Those morning hosts were horrible!
DeleteOh, the memories! (She rolls her eyes up.) Errol distinguishes himself in not having a middle initial (or, at least not using it on the air).
DeleteYes, Hay-tie, sometimes we need to look at national and even international stories, believe it or not... Man, is this guy a dullard. I started yawning listening to this crap. Maybe he'd be better in a 10PM-12AM slot with a show to get people to bed..
ReplyDeleteThere's a good game here, though - Count The Mmm Hmms! mmm hmmm mmm hmmm...
SDL
Absolutely! :)
DeleteMichael is bad, but Chris, I guarantee you would have called for the police if you heard Errol Maitland!!
DeleteAgreed about Errol. But having just listened to this excruciatingly S-L-O-W train wreck that was posted, I have to say that Errol's congenital idiocy was at least entertaining. Haskins (in the audio clip amyways) seemed like a turtle presented with sheet music.
Deletejaw-dropping.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, listener/revenue/respect-dropping.
DeleteWhat does the "G" stand for in Michael G?
ReplyDeleteKGT
I don't know. I also have a middle G. It stands for Gunnar.
DeleteMichael Goof Haskins?
DeleteSDL
That works for me. He really doesn't get it, even after spending decades at the station.
DeleteHow about "Glassy", as in what your eyes become when you listen to him?
DeleteThat one also works for me. Don't you love it when Haskie, in his inimitable way, transports you back to 1170 BC?
DeleteHe must have heard that from Sista Mimi. He's a great antiquities scholar.

I think Haskins' mind is a cesspool of ignorance.
DeleteMichael G. Haskins' idea to have "black" women read from the highly suspect "Incidents in the Life of A Slave Girl" on his morning show is simply boring. According to recorded history the original publisher of the work went bankrupt before the "slave narrative" went into publication. Perhaps the present reading of the work on Haskins' show foreshadows WBAI's own demise.
ReplyDeleteI have a strong feeling that this "recollection" is an early scam. It has, in my judgement, certainly been doctored over the years. The readings are, for the most part, dreadful
DeleteDon't complain. If you gripe about this highly suspect book, he'll read from another highly suspect book, "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" which, of course, is completely true.
