What did I tell you? This punk Murillo found a way to get a second paycheck into his life and isn't letting go of it. "Interim"? No, try permanent Program Director (pPD). His own words prove it:

There you go! Another rider on a free pass from the idiots who give these clowns money. Even funnier is his going deeper into the garbage programming that has turned WBAI into a mess. These self-deluded ideologues really believe there is some sort of left wing revolution coming. No, Murillo. The only revolution, if one even comes, will be corporate right wing.
Anyway. Another cowardly cocooned moron with no idea of reality to speak of. He just surrounds himself with a few fellow thinkers and avoids dealing with people in the real world. Oh, maybe being around WBAI is safer than Hofstra University, since his students give him a mediocre grading, anyway.
This WBAI freefall is so funny. Know what it is reminding me of now? WCW when it went into freefall. The people with the power were all playing favorites and pushing their friends, without any concern for the company or fans. Guess what happened. The most laughable fan exodus and decline in the history of pro wrestling. The all time biggest pro wrestling company became worth no more than a few million Dollars when it was shut down and sold to arch rival, the WWF.
50,000 watts, middle of the FM dial, no ratings because they have so few listeners they can't get a rating. No, don't worry, they have just enough listener suckers to pay just enough bills to keep them going for just a little while longer. And the PNB? BEEP! WOOF WOOF. We have a new ED! [RADIO BLASTING}. Are you present? "I and I..."

Seriously. If it weren't for Null and Goodman, WBAI would be long gone. The station relies on two people for half or more of their money. Funny how those two aren't focusing on ghetto politic, isn't it? Tell you something? Well, it doesn't tell Murillo anything.

I guess I should give Fass and his compatriots from 1977 some credit. At least they had the guts to occupy WBAI. Yes, failed, but showed some fight, even if self-serving.

Do not underestimate Murillo - he is a clever, far thinking dude. He and the late scumbag Samori Marksman(nee Stanley) were TIGHT. He is surrounding himself with his cronies(the Thief Keyes, the Crook White) and many others unseen and unheard. He is embedding himself with blacks like Gary Byrd and Bob Law, even though he privately hates them. Murillo is NO FOOL. He is a dyed in the wool MARXIST! Just warning everyone on this board and those who listen to BAI. Beware of this Murillo dude.

DeleteThis is why I call WBAI a cult. It looks to suck money continuously from a small group of people by constantly reinforcing paranoia and fear while isolating these people from the outside world. In fact, WBAI's own world view is extremely racist against blacks, as it stereotypes them as all having the same ghetto politic beliefs, without accepting that everyone is different and has their own beliefs. In the mind of people like Murillo, all blacks are the same.
I don't underestimate Murillo. He has shown he is smart enough to suck money from people. WBAI is going to be the voice of the I'm blacker than you hucksters, all the while having fewer listeners. WBAI has no worse an enemy than itself.
I guess Murillo wants his own find on th station, so he is giving airtime to the atrocious Reverend Billy. Somehow this fits perfectly with Reimers great find, Julianna Forlano. They both come from the most unfunny level of self-important political parody.
Imagine if salaries at WBAI were paid based on job performance and donations raised. Bet you'd see a change in programming in no time.

When they come around to offering the WBAI Coloring Book, I think Rev Billy will be there as a lone drawing, awaiting the application of one of this sepia crayons. Perhaps he and Mimi will be shown as American Gothic.

DeleteI wish Gary Null would get smart and pull out of WBAI already. Ultimately, his mainly white bourgeois following are going to start seeing him as a supporter of the anti-white hate speech basis of the station. I don't really think he needs WBAI anyway. He needs to push his PRN as WBAI's competitor.
I'll give Null a piece of advice. Go put PRN on one of those indie shortwave stations 24/7, like wacko Brother Stair does with his ministry. It can cost $20 - $40 per hour to be heard worldwide! WBAI isn't worth it. Amy Goodman should move on, also, or, at least, demand a better time slot, like the 6PM-7PM weekday one. Not like Forlanno or Jordan serve any purpose there.
I think WBAI needs to have a good language lessons show. I think it would be cool to teach Swahili, Xhosa, etc.
The next year should be lots of fun, watching the USS Minnow drift...

DeleteIf Murillo was living on the European continent, he would be known as a Nationalist. Goodman will never move on, she supports the current BAI ideology. Null, I am not sure. He is mostly a promoter, and he is loath to lose any audience as his business is shrinking.

In the photos I've seen, he's wearing the costume. I'm always a bit leery of people who need visual ethnic identifiers—sometimes I wonder if they are trying to convince themselves of something. I love my ancestral Viking background, although they were somewhat barbaric and invasive, but they good with words and they write with wit, the Sagas offer proof of that. That said, I don't think Iceland or Norway should build settlements in England or North America, and you couldn't get me to wear one of those helmets (not talking about the horned ones, they were strictly Wagner's fantasy. :)
