Reimers hypnotic/psychotic stew

WBAI LSB Treasurer, R. Paul Martin, has issued his March, 2015 Report. I have marked the portion that directly addresses WBAI's situation. As usual, we find GM Berthold Reimers giving details that are at variance with the facts as others see them. Look into his eyes!

  1. I'm too lazy to read this hole facachta thing. Can somebody please summarize it for me, esp. where it pertains to WBAI.

  2. Anyone here planning to attend the POST DEPARTUM DEPRESSION seance in 1 1/2 weeks? Not I, but I wouldn't criticize anyone who did.

    1. Attending that seance would be akin to awarding Rupert Murdoch or Hannity a prestigious journalism award. Apropos hypocrisy, they're having some kind of thing for Robert Knight. When the BAI bozos take you to hell, they go all the way!

    2. If I want to go to Hell, I'll listen to the first Venom LP, or the first two Demon LPs. Maybe throw in some Witchfinder General and Mecyful Fate for good measure.

  3. Same old thing. However, I do like Reimers' imitation of O'Brien's math in Orwell's 1984 - 2+2=5, 3x18,000=209,304. Orwellian mathamatics, you just can't beat it.

Does the NFC actually do anything, besides issue reports?

Is Hufnagel really a plant to make Mitch Cohen look good?

  4. R. Paul Martin, the censor in chief, said on his blog Berthold Reimers announced WBAI must move out of the City College studios by the end of the month!!

    1. Yes, thus contradicting his previous statements. Pinocchio had nothing on Berthold Reimers. A pathological liar who has gotten away with it for a few years at WBAI and, most likely, at previous jobs. One has to wonder why they let him go.

  5. Who knows why they let him go - someone should investigate. As David Geffen said about the Clintons, Reimers lies with such ease!

  6. Laughable. So now they will have a new "studio," which sounds, from what has been said, like anything but a studo. I made some comments on RPM's list regarding that recently. Could be amusing to hear the sounds in the background. Also, I wonder if any producers will quit rather than do the travel.

BTW, is it me, or has RPM taken to ignoring me?

Too bad they aren't leaving Daulton Anderson back there where they found him.

Reimers? With a PNB that can barely decide on a five minute extension, do you really think they could get themselves together enough to fire this clown?

    1. If, by some major miracle or a medical breakthrough, Berthold Reimers grows a brain and becomes half-way fit for the job, I think the PNB will step in and issue a pink slip. That said, if Haskins fell out of love with his own name, Fass regained consciousness, pigs sprouted wings....

The studio situation is by now well-documented evidence of Reimers' dishonesty and problems with reality.

As the pixelized tumbleweed blows across his screen, RPM is probably beginning to realize that he is in charge of a ghost forum, but he will never concede to having himself dealt the fatal blow.

    3. I popped on Fass for about five minutes last night and had enough of his mindless ramblings... Urrr... Ummm... Errrr... I then went and watched a couple of bad early 1980s slasher films. Fass and slasher films are both mindless and bad. The difference is slasher films can be fun. Fass is just torture these days. He really needs to get out of that self-created cocoon that makes him feels safe in an imaginary 1968. When is he going to realize people like Dylan and Guthrie don't show up anymore, or even remember him? Maybe deep down he knows he's been used.

As for RPM. When he first popped up when I was a teenager, I would just turn him off. He was nothing but a howler using WBAI to let off steam. The guy just sucked and still sucks. I don't really have an opinion on Pickles, since she doesn't seem to really do anything, anyway. He can thank himself for a dead BB. No, he'll yell and blam, but it's his fault.

    4. Fass was embarrassing this morning as he barely broke his heavy breath with inane, disjointed rambling. When he played music, it was equally fragmented, like random needle drops. The man is a total mess, and isn't it pathetic how he keeps reciting the call letters of those other stations, compounding the transparency of that reoccurring routine by asking more stations to carry his show.

Once he is gone and a handful of remaining memories dissipate, there will be nothing left but a documentary film that a dwindling number of old people might relate to. It really didn't have to end this way, but Bob never looked ahead, he just froze in his tracks as others moved on and time left but a faded 8-by-10 of what once was.

As for RPM, I really don't think Pickles calls the shots—they seem made for each other. RPM's reports serve a good purpose and his friendship with Sidney seems genuine and laudable.

I think the biggest worm in this hole is Berthold Reimers.

    5. One day I am going to have to check out those stations that run Fass' show. I know the one low power (WIOF) is a nothing with a few mile radius, basically a hobby station, by an ex NYC pirate operator. The others must be pathetic, too, especially the one that only runs half the show. What is even the point then? Well, maybe saving listeners torment. I pressume these stations get the show for free. No way anyone could be stupid enough to pay for it. Even WBAI listeners know better than to pay for it.

Does Fass actually play the music? Often it sounded like Propp does. Maybe both at different times? Someone should tell Fass and Propp we already have two country music stations in NYC. Amazing that there are two country music stations and only one barely rock station and one classical station.

The biggest worm? I don't know. I think the entire network is just totally corrupt. I don't blame anyone for watching out for themself. If Reimers doesn't get his, someone else will. Just the kind of people that they are. I think the word "maggots" is more fitting.

      SDL

    6. Maggots, indeed.

Fass does play the music. Props just sits there—it's a weird kind of idolatry that takes place.

I share your impression of these stations, I don't think their listenership adds up to a hill of beans.

I don't know why Fass plays so much country music, but he does. Sometimes he plays some interesting stuff, but it's so fragmented, as I pointed out before, and there does not seem to be any detectable continuity.

When he talks about the "cabale," I picture Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond, slowly descending the staircase, pausing to express her happiness to "those wonderful people out there in the dark." Gloria actually did that scene for me one evening at her apartment... it was just the two of us, waiting for her husband, Bill Dufty, who had gone to the store. Those eyes of her were the most mesmerizing I had seen since Judy Collins was a regular at WBAI.

Ah, but I digress... as usual. :)

    1. No, we had many conversations, but these were not interviews, so there was no reason to get into her personal life—nor mine, for that matter. Sometimes, on clear summer days, I just went over there to catch a bit of sun in her little outdoor area (her apartment was on the ground floor).

Geoffrey Holder, a mutual friend, and I were in the planning stages of a Bessie Smith theater production, so Gloria often heard us talk about Bessie (Bill co-wrote Billie Holiday's autobiography). One day, Gloria asked me who Bessie was, so I gave her a brief description, adding that she was widely regarded as the greatest blues singer of all time. This produced a memorable response from the lady who may have been the biggest star of the silent screen era:

"Oh," she said, "I'm afraid I never met her, but, you see, I rarely mingled with famous people."

  9. I woke up and switched on the radio to hear On The Count. I have to admit I couldn't turn it off, it was so amazing. No, it wasn't the host but the callers who were utterly mind numbing, but very telling about the listenership of WBAI. The guy wanted to talk about women and the prison system. The callers wanted to talk about Brady and Null related nonsense (chemtrails, GMOs), whether the host included white women when he used the term "sisters," etc. You see, according to the one black woman, white women run the world. If a white guy said that, cries of sexism would have flow around. Just such a pack of morons. Sadly, the host sounded too weak and incapable of guiding the show.

The remnants may just be crazier than the WBAI staff.

    1. I, too, was riveted and disgusted by the picture of WBAI these callers inadvertently give. You are absolutely right, these people have stepped into a world that in many ways is the summation of crap aired by the station. And the host clearly addressed black women when he kept encouraging the "sisters" to call in. He had to backtrack when the lady from New Jersey came right to the point on that.

Apropos destructive morons, I think you might have had a tough time tuning out the preceding program, "City Watch," with host Bill DiFazio, an old Leftist who apparently had what Mimi had, if you know what I mean. They were discussing the BAI choir's side of the topic du jour, Ferguson, with not a single attempt to give more than that one side—when "people of color" are the shooters, it is, of course, because people drained of color somehow helped them pull the trigger.

Anyway, we know all that, but the revealing aspect of this show was that the guests were Bernard White and Larry Ham (sp?). White is definitely pushing his way back to WBAI and getting much encouragement from the abusers who are already ensconced. Turns out that White and Ham are working together on protest projects—Ham, of course, is one of the regulars whose toes are kissed by Michael Haskins in the morning... it all comes together, doesn't it?

At this point, one would have to be deaf and dumb (in the mental sense) to not see that there is an ongoing attempt to convert WBAI into a black/hispanic "community" station. Murillo has opened that door wider and more fools are rushing in. The saving grace is that this has become a suicide mission and they will all be out on their asses before they can grasp what happened.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, the whole thing about On The Count was what the callers showed us. Here is a show about prison related matters, and the listeners can't even focus on the topic and want to discuss science fiction. Says it all to me.

The funny thing was how the woman from NJ eventually came out and attacked white women. Once upon a time, women like that would have been feminists and not cared about another woman's race. Things have changed to a racial basis now. We're going so backwards in time.

I have been saying for a while now that Bernard "Klepto" White will be back as PD. RPM ignores me when I ask him when White will be back. He will be, and he will have his vengeance. And anything not bolted down will disappear.

I'll tell you one thing. If White comes back and WBAI goes black, the Hispanics will be out on their asses. For all the talk, Hispanics have the least presence and power at the station. They are being used while useful, at most.

I'm enjoy the whole self-destruction. With listeners like these, I encurage Reimers to have more beg-a-thons. Take these dummies for everything they are worth, as any good cult leader does.

    3. If it were up to Murillo, WBAI would be mostly Hispanic. His PD gig should be over by now, but he has Velcro'ed himself to the morning show. It's only a matter of time before someone pulls that chain and flushes them all out.

Today I will be posting something on the studio farce and link to an article KPFT's PD has written to favor his faction.

    2. Just checked again and seems like what I posted. There IS some static (not the best reception), since it is a low power FM broadcast. Language is Spanish. Remember that these local FM pirates run 10 or fewer watts into cheap equipment and will probably only be heard for a few mile radius.

Maybe my ears are just more sensitive to picking up on bad radio conditions due to all the time I spent listening to shortwave and pirates. Hey, ain't much worse than WBAI sometimes is...

Anyway, Right now NYC is THE pirate radio market with an estimate "hundreds" of them running in the five boroughs. Kind of tells you local corporate radio isn't satisfying many peoples' needs.
